The Mailo Land Platform is a multi-stakeholder dialogue and advocacy initiative aimed at addressing the complexities, conflicts, and policy challenges surrounding the Mailo Land Tenure System in Uganda.
The platform brings together government institutions, civil society organizations, cultural leaders, researchers, local communities, academia, landlords, tenants, and development partners to promote inclusive discussions on land governance, tenure security, and peaceful coexistence.
Implemented through collaborative engagements, policy dialogues, research discussions, and community consultations, the initiative focuses on strengthening understanding of Mailo land dynamics, promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), improving land administration systems, and advocating for fair and sustainable land reforms.
The platform also emphasizes protection of vulnerable groups, including women and tenants, while encouraging evidence-based policy recommendations to improve land governance, reduce conflicts, and enhance tenure security in Uganda.
